I gathered all the metallic-threaded fabrics in my stash, laid them on a foundation of red satin and decided they still weren't glitzy enough for what I had in mind.  Two birthday balloons solved the problem.   I cut them open and used the shiny, mylar side, then finished with a sprinkling of sequins and beads.
